James Juett Voted HKN Professor of the Year for CSE

EECS students voted, and Dr. James Juett was named the 2016-2017 HKN Professor of the Year in CSE by the Beta-Epsilon chapter of Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), the national honor society for electrical and computer engineers.

The Professor of the Year Award is awarded based on popular vote by all undergraduate and graduate students in programs administered by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Dr. Juett joined the faculty at Michigan in Winter 2016 after receiving his PhD in Computer Science from Michigan in 2015. His research has been focused on the use of interactive program visualization tools to create more effective experiences for students in introductory programming education. He is a believer in constructivist principles, the power of active learning, and the idea that you do not have to understand how to teach – you have to understand how students learn.

Dr. Juett teaches EECS 280, Programming and Data Structures, and ENGR 101, Introduction to Computers and Programming. He also serves as a faculty advisor for CS students.
